Tyler (KETK) — Douglass is between Nacogdoches and Alto.
Carlisle High School is in Price, Texas, between Tyler and Henderson.
The Douglass Indians and the Carlisle Indians are the top two baseball teams in the state.
Number one Douglass is led by coach Eugene Lafitte.
"It's great to be recognized," Lafitte told KETK. "Our kids want to be successful at what we do."
Matthew Wallace is a Douglass infielder.
"The number one ranking isn't a blessing because the target is huge," Wallace said. "Everybody wants to beat Douglass."
Coach Wesley Colley led Carlisle to the state championship last year.
His team is number two statewide this year.
"We've got four very experienced seniors back from last year's championship team," Colley told KETK. "They set examples for the other players."
"These kids just don't know how to lose," Colley added.
Zach Brightwell is a pitcher for Carlisle.
"We've been so successful this year because of our chemistry," Brightwell said. "We've been together for a while."
"We've just got things figured out," Brightwell added.
