Trinity County, Texas (KETK) —
The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office has seized two horses from West Pine Valley Street in Trinity.
Both Trinity Police Department and Trinity County Sheriff’s Office warned the owner Kevin Cooper about taking care of his horses after the found the animals to be malnourished.
Recently, one of Cooper’s horses had to be euthanized due to malnutrition. In another incident, one of Cooper’s neighbors called the police and reported that a strong odor was coming from Cooper’s property. When officers arrived, they noticed a horse had been half way buried in the ground. Since both of these incidents, Cooper had moved his last two horses to a residence on West Pine Valley Street.
On Wednesday, April 23, the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office received information from police about two horses not being taken care of. Investigator Tommy Park and Sgt. Randy Wheeler met at the address on West Pine Valley Street. There were two paint type horses at the address. One of the horses was tied to a telephone pole and the other was tied to a tree, neither of the two horses had any food or water. Investigator Park could tell the horses were malnourished because both the ribs and hip bones were protruding.
Investigator Park received a Warrant for Seizure of Cruelly Treated Animals. Investigator Park went back to the address with the Trinity County Cowboy to take possession of the horses. While the Cowboy walked one of the horses to the trailer, the horse pulled the Cowboy over to a bucket with water inside it. Trinity County took possession of both the horses.
Cooper has been arrested for Cruelty to Animals and booked into the Trinit County Jail.
