Jacksonville, TX (KETK) — Toby Gowin grew up in Jacksonville.
He was an All-State punter and kicker for Jacksonville High School.
He went from East Texas to the Dallas Cowboys.
Tuesday night, he was honored by his hometown.
Gowin was enshrined into the Jacksonville Wall of Fame.
He signed with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 1997.
He played four season with the Cowboys.
Gowin also played for the Saints and the Jets.
He had an eight-year career in the NFL and it all started with Jerry Jones.
"I have a lot of respect for Jerry," Gowin told KETK. "He gave me an opportunity to play for the Cowboys."
"He stuck with me when I was getting started in my career," Gowin added. "I wasn't very good but he saw something in me and gave me an opportunity."
"I'm always going to be thankful for that," Gowin said.
