Timpson, Texas (KETK) — The Texas Rangers and Shelby County deputies are investigating the death of a Timpson toddler who allegedly drowned in a bathtub on Sunday.
According to Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell, the 14- to 15-month-old child was found in the bathtub with the water running around 1 p.m. at home on County Road 4694. The discovery was made when a neighbor knocked on the front door and awakened the parents, whom were taking a nap.
The mother first found the toddler, and the friend immediately began to perform CPR. During this time, neighbors called 911 for help. The child was rushed by ambulance to a Nacogdoches hospital, where the toddler was pronounced deceased.
Authorities currently do no suspect foul play. Child Protective Services is assisting in the investigation.
The parents have been identified as David and Leanne Parks, said Blackwell.
No one has been charged with a crime at this time.
