(KETK) - Tyler, Tx — What a difference a week makes. On Monday, we had just made it through the severe storms and a cold front was set to move in by Tuesday. Temperatures took a tumble for highs by the middle of this past week. Our highs were well below normal. By Friday, temperatures rebounded again and it has been a great start to the weekend.
Today, we will have plenty of sunshine thanks to an area of High pressure to our south, providing a light southwest breeze today. Temperatures will reach the middle and upper 80s today with clear blue skies.
This warmer weather will continue well into Monday due to the jet stream pattern returning to a west-to-east (zonal) flow. This zonal flow gives us quiet weather and warm temperatures.
The warm weather continues into the week. While our normal high is about 80°, temperatures will remain above averave for the next week. Temperatures will be near 90 for some East Texas cities for the early part of next week.
Two important days to note. On Tuesday will be when the humidity and moisture returns for our area. Because of this, we will see a partly sunny sky. Temperatures remain very warm. On Friday, we will have a good chance of showers and thunderstorms for East Texas. It is possible that severe weather will be a concern for next weekend, and our KETK Weather Team will be watching the situation closely. This rain chance is likely to continue into Saturday before we clear out late next weekend.
For now, let's just enjoy this fantastic weekend weather. I hope you'll be able to take advantage of the great weather and events that are outdoors this weekend.
