VAN ZANDT COUNTY - (KETK) — One East Texas gun range is appealing to young shooters. The owner George Hanna of Buffalo Creek Gun Range says he'd like to see more kids get involved.
"We got skeet, trap, five-stand, wobble trout, double trout, 300-yard rifle range, and a 50-yard pistol range," said Hanna. It was a weekend of fun at Buffalo Creek Gun Range and Trap Club. You'll see the gun range right off highway 64 between Ben Wheeler and Edom. Hanna opened the gun range eight years ago right on his property.
"Good people around and he's got everything you want, rifle, pistol, you can even shoot gold if you want to," said Robert Falkner of Whitehouse.
Hanna is a big supporter of the youth and agriculture. ''We have the 4H Club and FFA shoots here," said Hanna.
The Henderson County 4-H club shoots at the range on the first Sunday of every month in the afternoon and other clubs are on schedule as well.
Hanna tells us he'd like to see more kids get involved in skeet shooting. "A kid who has never been around a gun I can see why he'd be anti-gun, but if he's out here shooting clay targets shooting a rifle well he can see it's for something, it's a sport, it's not for killing people," said Hanna.
He says, East Texans got to keep this sport going and it's full of fun!
