Longview — Incumbent councilwoman Kasha Williams rode a wave of South Longview support to her second term in office Saturday, steamrolling two would-be challengers looking to unseat her.
Williams collected 433 votes, 93 percent of the total in her District 3 re-election bid, while Donald Webb and G. Floyd secured 18 votes, 3.87 percent, and 14 votes, 3.01 percent, respectively, according to unofficial results.
“To have that level of support from the citizens I serve means a great deal to me,” Williams said. “I remain committed to serve them and serve our great city.”
Williams and a crowd of supporters waited expectantly Saturday night on the first floor of the Gregg County Courthouse for the results. In a picture reminiscent of the election, Williams’ challengers were not present for the announcement.
