NFL officials at the annual league owners meeting Tuesday announced Minneapolis, home of the Minnesota Vikings, will host the Super Bowl in 2018.
The three finalist cities announced last October, Minneapolis, Indianapolis and New Orleans, made their final pitches before the final votes were cast.
Minneapolis won over favored New Orleans, who was planning to use the Super Bowl as a kickoff to the city's 300th anniversary celebrations.
Minneapolis hasn’t hosted the event since 1992, Super Bowl XXVI.
Indianapolis last hosted the Super Bowl in 2012 (XLVII), and New Orleans hosted the Super Bowl in 2013 (XLVIII).
