CNN — (CNN) -- Former President George H.W. Bush celebrated his 90th birthday Thursday by skydiving, floating to the ground with a fellow jumper under a red-white-and-blue parachute canopy.
Soaring through the sky, above the trees near the Bush summer home in Kennebunk, Maine, Bush jumped from a helicopter in tandem with the same man he has jumped with several times before.
"He loves the adrenaline. He loves the jolt. He loves the thrill," the former president's spokesman, Jim McGrath, told CNN.
Former first lady Barbara Bush was "fully on board" with the jump, McGrath added.
"It's a wonderful day in Maine -- in fact, nice enough for a parachute jump," the former President tweeted Thursday.
Bush has parachuted seven times -- once when he was shot down as a Navy pilot during World War II and the other six recreationally, including jumps to celebrate his 75th, 80th and 85th birthdays.
