Queen City, TExas (KETK) — One person was killed and a second person was critically injured in a shooting Tuesday night.
According to the Queen City Police Department, at 10:57 p.m., Leon Minniefield, 55, allegedly shot and killed Marshantha Latrice Frank, 27. He is also accused of critically injuring a second who has not been identified. The person were flown to a Texarkana hospital in critical condition.
Around 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, authorities discovered the body of a black male believed to be Minnifield at a location outside of Queen City in Cass County, at the Piney Point boating area along Like Wright Patmen.
According to the Cass County Sheriff's Office, Minnifield died of an apparent gunshot wound.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office sent the body for autopsy. Fingerprints are being sent to a lab to confirm the person's Identity, however, it is believed to be Minniefield, determined by other means of identification.
Marshantha Latrice Frank's body was sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
It appears the incident was a dispute between Frank and Minniefield about personal matters. It has not been determined at this time what the disagreement may have been about.
Queen City Police Department received help from the Texas Ranger Service, Cass County Sheriff's Office and the Texarkana Police Department.
Police stated it will take several weeks to compile all the information in this case.
