Kilgore — The city of Kilgore is looking to complete a six-field baseball complex — aimed at attracting tournaments to the town — in time for spring ball.
The proposed complex, which would cost between $1.5 million and $2.2 million, has been on the wish list of the Kilgore Boys Baseball Association for some time.
“We have been working on this for about 10 years, and our fields are antiquated enough now and kids have gotten so much better now that the fields we have we cannot host any state tournaments,” said association President Gary Dent.
In May, the City Council approved $473,921 for high-mast lighting at the future park, which will sit across Commerce Street to the west of Driller Park.
