Tyler, Texas(KETK) — East Texas residents took to the corner of Broadway and the Loop in Tyler to voice theirs thoughts and opinions about the crisis surrounding our U.S. border. Those passing by honked their horns in support of the protestors who were holding signs reading "Close the Border". Protestors were at the corner for several hours Saturday expressing their thoughts on how both our federal and state government should handle the issue. The common response, "send them home".
While protestors expressed sympathy for the children who have become mixed up in the situation, they still believe the children should be sent home because at the end of the day, they're illegal and that's a crime.
Governor Rick Perry recently spoke out about the crisis at the border suggesting he would take matters into his own hands, however, legally there isn't much he can do when it comes to handling a federal matter. That didn't stop some protestors from feeling like he could still take action. One protestor suggested he at least close the Texas border.
