Deborah Dobbs with the SPCA of East Texas, stopped by KETK with Guinevere, a 14-month old German Shepherd.
The animal was rescued on the night of Friday, July 11, 2014, from what they call a cruel situation. Dobbs says Guinevere was beaten and neglected. A Smith County Sheriff's Deputy and representatives with the SPCA of East Texas helped rescue the dog and her six puppies.
They say a deputy was called to the residence off of Highway 31 East, back in June, after witnesses reported the abuse of the then pregnant Guinevere. Witnesses say the owner was not happy and reportedly kicked the animal. They say Guinevere gave birth to 15 puppies the next day, but nine were reportedly trampled by a horse.
The SPCA of East Texas has asked the Smith County Sheriff’s Department to pursue Animal Cruelty charges against the owner.
In the meantime, Guinevere needs a foster home. If you'd like to help go to spcaeasttx.com
