TYLER-When city officials implemented the Tyler 21 Plan, a big part of that was bringing life to downtown. Now if you've been downtown lately, you've noticed some physical changes. But before long there will be some changes you'll never see.
Part of that downtown facelift was using one vacant building on the square as headquarters for Tyler Main Street. And this new building will bring WiFi to all.
The building will be the new home for not only the Tyler Main Street Project, but also for the non-profit organization Heart of Tyler and Gallery Main Street.
The system being installed right now in the building will allow for free internet connectivity on the western side of downtown beginning at the T.B. Butler Plaza. The free WiFi system will be launched along with the opening of the gallery on August 28th.
"Not only is it going to be a great asset to this building, but if you want to go out to the plaza and have lunch and get on the internet your more than welcome," Director of Tyler Main Street, Beverly Abell, said.
This will be the fourth public WiFi system installed in the city. Other locations include city hall, the library and the airport.
