TYLER - Carrier Corporation Spokesperson Michelle Caldwell tells KETK approximately 140 hourly employees were laid off at the Tyler plant Friday.
She says, the reason is because of low-order volume attributed to the economy.
Caldwell says the company expects to recall these employees when order volume increases.
She could not confirm any more layoffs in the weeks ahead.
Carrier Corporation is Tyler's 7th largest employer.
This is its second round of layoffs this year.
In February, the company laid off 150 employees.
Carrier Corporation makes air conditioner parts.
