Budget cuts could cost Rusk State Hospital
Rusk State Hospital could lose up to 47 hospital beds and between 100 and 110 employees if legislation approves budget cuts. The Department of State Health Services has outlined nearly $246 million in possible cuts as Texas faces a potential $18 billion shortfall in the next budget period.
Legislation for budget cut approvals will not be taking place until 2011 and those passed would not be put into effect until 2012. Rusk State Hospital is looking at a 10% budget cut.
