TYLER - Even though the weather hasn't been perfect, a lot of people are hitting the lake this holiday, and with the extra traffic on the water, game wardens and lake patrol officers want to make sure you're safe while you're enjoying the weekend.
Officers are checking for life jackets, intoxicated drivers, and boating registration.
Smith County Game Warden Chris Green tells us, so far there's been no major incidents.
Green also says there are extra patrols on the bigger lakes.
