The 911 call came in late Monday. A frantic woman said that a man had been stabbed…by his own son.
The arrest warrant describes a scene of horror. The Wilsons, father and son, had a troubled family story.
The father, 46-year-old David Wayne Wilson had a criminal history, and his 21-year-old son David Adam Wilson has been described as autistic.
Family members are reporting to us that Adam suffered from autism,” said Lt. Tony Dana of the Smith County Sheriff’s Office. “They’d been having some behavioral problems with him lately. They’d been trying to get his medication adjusted.”
For some reason, those dynamics are said to have come to a head in the small house on county road 2089 near the towns of Arp and Overton.
“For whatever reason,’ Dana said, “his dad and he got into an altercation, a verbal argument.”
The father’s common law wife, Regina Thompson says she heard an argument between the two. When she entered the room, the scene was out of a horror movie.
“Adam retrieved a knife from the kitchen area and proceeded to stab his dad several times,” Dana said.
Thompson grabbed a phone, climbed out of a window, and locked herself in a truck parked out front, with David Adam Wilson following, carrying the knife.
“The caller said that Adam Wilson was stabbing his father to death,” Dana related.
Attempts to revive the father were unsuccessful, and David Adam Wilson was arrested for first degree murder.
Dana told us, “He did make statements to the deputy at the scene to the effect that I can’t believe I’ve done this.”
David Wayne Wilson’s body has been sent to Dallas for autopsy. David Adam Wilson is in the Smith County Jail under a half million dollar bond.
