Only minor injuries reported
A two-vehicle accident backed up traffic along Loop 287 around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
A silver GMC Canyon driven by Janice McCullough, 72, of Lufkin, was rear-ended while sitting at a red light at the intersection of the loop and Copeland. McCullough’s truck suffered minor exterior damage and was drivable after the accident, while the black Honda driven by Alexander Hanak, 19, of Lufkin, was not.
Hanak and his passenger suffered minor injuries in the accident and were visibly shaken. The two were checked out by Lufkin Fire EMS, but refused transport to the hospital. McCullough and her two passengers were uninjured.
