Cherokee County Precinct 3 Commissioner Katherine Pinotti says it’s a witchhunt. The County Attorney says it’s possibly a crime. And today, It took a turn for the dramatic.
Pinotti is accused of using county roadbuilding equipment, crews and material to pave a small road in the county that doesn’t belong to the county. She says it does and is mismarked.
And today,Sheriff’s detectives arrived unannounced at her precinct office and confiscated files and the commissioner’s computer.
Pinotti has lawyered up herself hiring former District Judge Cynthia Kent to represent her in the case. We spoke to the commissioner this afternoon to get the facts of the case, but on advice of her attorney, she didn’t want to be on camera.
The County Attorney Craig Caldwell has also been camera shy with us, but did say on the phone he doubted the amount of money spent was enough to generate felony charges, but a misdemeanor was a definite possibility.
Pinotti says it’s because she is a Republican.
