A woman Lufkin police she woke up after hearing someone banging on the outside of her house in the 600 block of West Frank Avenue.
When she went outside to investigate, she saw a man outside her house run away, she told police. The woman went inside to contact police, but her phone would not work, so she flagged a passing car to call the police, according to a police report.
When officers arrived, they found the woman’s telephone line had been pulled from the outside wall and that one of her window air-conditioning units was missing. They also found that the gas valves for her stove were turned wide open and the power to the house had been turned off at the breaker box.
