HENDERSON - Today the Henderson Police Department offered a seminar to help church leaders prepare for violence in their churches.
This comes after a string of church shootings in the last few years, and about six months after Henderson had its own close call.
Police say on December 21st, a masked gunman entered a church in Henderson during a holiday program.
Church leaders say although church violence is not something people want to think about, it's a harsh reality of our time.
"Most people in churches are not armed, are not prepared for it, and we need to make ourselves aware of it," Henry Wiggins, a Deacon, says.
Henderson police recommend working with a security team and make staff aware of threatening behavior before it happens.
