LONGVIEW, TX --- On September 4, 2010 at around midnight, Longview Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of East Marshall Avenue for a report of a hit and run accident in which a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle.
Officers arrived and located 45-year-old William J. Jones lying in the roadway unconscious. Witnesses that were standing in a nearby parking lot told officers that Jones had been struck by a white Geo Tracker when Jones attempted to cross the roadway. The witnesses stated the driver of the Tracker then fled the scene without stopping and was last seen traveling eastbound on East Marshall Avenue.
Jones was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center by the Longview Fire Department/EMS where he died on September 6, 2010 at 1:18 a.m. as a result of his injuries.
The description of the suspect vehicle was broadcasted to officers and Sgt. H. Clark located it in the 3300 block of South Eastman Road. Sgt. Clark stopped the vehicle and found evidence that it had been involved in the previous accident. The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Anna Catherine Shore of Longview, exhibited signs of intoxication and was arrested for failing to stop at an accident (3rd degree felony) and for driving with a suspended license (Class B misdemeanor).
Shore was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center where a mandatory specimen of her blood was drawn for analysis. The blood has been sent to a lab at the Texas Department of Public Safety and additional charges are pending the outcome of the results.
Shore was then booked into the Gregg County Jail.
