The upcoming Quran burning planned by a small Florida church has been called off as part of a reported deal that will move a controversial Islamic community center being built near Ground Zero.
Pastor Terry Jones announced late Thursday that he decided to cancel the Quran burning after talking with the leader of the group responsible for what has become known as the "Ground Zero Mosque".
Sources close to the iman responsible for the Cordoba House cultural center denied that an agreement has been discussed.
Jones' plans to burn copies of Islam's holiest text had sparked worldwide protest and drawn criticism from leaders on both sides of the religious and political spectrum.
