TYLER - With the overnight temperature dropping into the 30's and 40's people are likely heading indoors to get shelter from the cold.
But there are many here in East Texas, that don't have that option after the sun goes down
Right now the salvation army shelter in tyler is nearly full and they're only able to take in single adults.
Lisa Godfrey with the Salvation Army says, "Right now we are filled-up in the family dorm, we are full and we have several families that have recently come in due to the cold weather, because they don't want to expose their children to the cold weather."
Lisa says, in addition to the 15 families that are at the shelter right now there's another 100 single adults that are staying their as well.
Lisa says, "Some of them are actually coming from their homes, due to the fact that their utilities may have been turned-off due to non-payment."
With more East Texas cold nights ahead of us Salvation Army officials say more families will be forced to look elsewhere in the weeks and months ahead.
