But figures still above state rate
JACKSONVILLE — The Daily Progress is reporting: Cherokee County's unemployment rate dropped to 9.2 percent for the month of August, down from 9.5 percent the previous month.
The Paper reports the drop is below the U.S. rate, but still above the state's rate of 8.5 percent.
The Daily Progress spoke with Workforce Solutions East Texas Employer Services Supervisor Kim Stacey said the number is the same as last year at this time.
Jacksonville Mayor Dr. Robert Haberle said the numbers are moving in the right way.
Haberle told the paper: "It's a positive thing."
