FLINT - There are new details surrounding a house fire in Smith County.
The cause of the fire is known, but officials say, an investigation is still underway.
That's because, Smith County fire officials believe a man near the fire tried to impersonate a firefighter.
The fire happened Monday night, off of Frederick Circle, near Loop 49.
Flint-Gresham fire officials believe a pan of chicken fat and meat left on the stove started the fire.
No one was home during the blaze.
Repairs to the house are expected to cost about 45-thousand dollars.
