On October 27, 2009 at approximately 4:49 p.m., Longview Officers were
dispatched to Jarvis Street at Roosevelt Street for a report of a shooting that had just occurred.
Officers arrived to find that 38-year-old Gene Bean of Longview had been shot in
the lower leg during an argument with a family member at 715 Roosevelt. After
being shot, Bean went to a residence at 403 Jarvis for help and Longview Police
and Fire were summoned to this location.
Bean was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center by the Longview Fire
Department/EMS with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect in this case was
arrested by officers on-scene and the handgun used to shoot Bean was
The motive for the shooting is still under investigation and the name of the
suspect will be released as soon as it is available.
