An Army sergeant upstaged the entire cast of a Cirque Dreams Illumination show when he delivered an unscripted surprise.
Sgt. Phillip Clark, who recently returned from Iraq, arranged to have himself and his girlfriend, Jennifer Baggett, pulled from the audience for a skit during Wednesday night's Cirque performance at Baltimore's Hippodrome.
At the end of the skit, Clark dropped to one knee and asked Baggett to marry him.
"I really wanted to do something special," Clark said of his plan. "So I contacted Cirque's website and asked them if we could do this, and they were happily able to set this up."
The crowd roared after Baggett said yes.
"He must really love me. He must really want to marry me," a tearful Baggett told Cavanaugh.
Clark, an Army medic based at Fort Meade, also flew in Baggett's parents from Oklahoma so they could watch the proposal.
