TYLER - The "Texas Wounded Warrior" is an all-volunteer, non profit organization that sponsors an annual Wounded Warrior golf tournament.
Yesterday, wounded troops arrived at Tyler Pounds and were honored last night at a banquet in Bullard.
The big Wounded Warrior Pro-Am Golf Tournament itself starts tomorrow morning, but today, the troops, along with some golf professionals are playing the game with local kids.
The Piney Woods chapter of "First Tee" in Longview joined up with some junior golfers from Tyler for today's festivities.
"First Tee" is a junior golf organization that teaches core values like honesty and integrity as well as the basics of golf.
PGA professional Tom Campbell says it's fun to watch the warriors with the kids.
"Well it's just an honor to be a part of it - watching the juniors interact with our warriors is a special day," Campbell said.
The annual "Wounded Warrior Golf Pro-Am Celebrity Scramble" starts tomorrow at Willow Brook Country Club.
The proceeds for the golf tournament will benefit "Hope for the Warriors" - a national non-profit organization that helps wounded warriors and their families.
