SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - In California, recent polls show Democrat Jerry Brown has an 8-point lead in the governor's race.
Brown leads Republican Meg Whitman 44% to 36% among likely voters.
The Senate race has tightened quite a bit. Incumbent U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer is leading GOP challenger Carly Fiorina 43% to 38%.
Forty-four percent of voters support Proposition 19, which would legalize recreational marijuana use. A ballot initiative to suspend California's global warming law has just a mere 37% support.
