AS REPORTED IN THE NACOGDOCHES DAILY SENTINEL:
Students, faculty and staff throughout Nacogdoches ISD will be busy dressing up every day for Red Ribbon Week, which begins on Oct. 23. Students at Brooks Quinn Jones Elementary will also participate in Career Week in conjunction with Red Ribbon Week, Dottie McClain, school counselor, said.
"We will be inviting professionals in a wide variety of career areas to help the students learn about what it takes to prepare for a specific career," she explained.
A career assembly will take place at the school on Monday, and Tuesday is career picture day.
"Say a student wants to be a police officer, a company will be coming in and dressing them up in the outfit of whatever career they choose and taking professional pictures," McClain said.
Speakers from different career paths, including a loan officer, funeral director, day care director, event planner and nurse, will be present Wednesday and Thursday to talk with the students.
