AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Austin police say a man with a rifle shot and killed his roommate and wounded a neighbor before officers fatally shot the gunman.
Police on Wednesday identified the gunman as 26-year-old Howard Hanh Huynh.
Chief Art Acevedo says police are seeking a motive for Tuesday's attack.
Investigators say Huynh killed 26-year-old Phu Vinh Truong, then opened fire on a 29-year-old neighbor standing nearby as Huynh ran away.
Huynh, who fired at police as they arrived at the residence following a call for medical help, was fatally shot when he pointed an assault rifle at an officer.
The wounded neighbor was hospitalized in stable condition. Her name was not immediately released.
The officer who fatally shot Huynh is on administrative leave, along with an officer who returned fire as Huynh shot at police.
