AS REPORTED IN THE LUFKIN DAILY NEWS:
Kraft Foods and Brookshire Brothers presented a $5,000 check Wednesday afternoon to help in the fight against hunger in East Texas.
The two companies developed a partnership as part of Kraft Foods’ Huddle to Fight Hunger campaign and celebrated the launch of the campaign by donating the equivalent of 35,000 meals to the East Texas Food Bank through the Feeding America program.
Doug McGough, Kraft’s Customer Category Manager, said the turnkey program began in August and will culminate with the first-ever Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl between two college football teams.
Displays in local Brookshire Brothers stores explain how everyone can get involved. Log on to huddletofighthunger.com for participation information. Every time someone signs up on the website, Kraft Foods donates one meal in hopes of reaching the goal of 20 million meals donated. The company already donated 15.4 million meals, and McGough said the program runs through the end of the year.
