Officials in southern California have uncovered a major drug tunnel between Tijuana and San Diego.
During the raid, they seized over 15 tons of marijuana.
The tunnel is just big enough to crawl through. It has lights, a ventilation system, and a rail system to help transport drugs from a warehouse in Tijuana to a building 600 yards away on the US side.
Agents say they got a tip yesterday that there was a tunnel somewhere on Via de la Armistad. The agents saw a tractor trailer parked outside a building and had a gut feeling.
So, agents followed the tractor trailer to the border checkpoint on I-15 near Temecula, and found 10 tons of marijuana inside.
That discovery led to a search warrant at an office building... where 15 tons of marijuana were all bundled up and ready to be shipped.
On the Tijuana side, authorities found 4 tons of pot, waiting to be shipped.
