LONGVIEW—Smokers lighting up on the Longview campus of Kilgore College have a new set of rules to abide by.
Kilgore College is enforcing a new policy where smokers are only allowed to smoke in designated areas. College administrators hope the new policy will help make the campus cleaner and keep smokers away from building entrances.
College administrators say the Longview campus hopes to eventually go completely smoke free. However, there are no details about when a smoke-free campus will be enforced.
The main campus in Kilgore enforces a smoking policy prohibiting smokers from lighting up within 30 feet from any building. Violators are subject to a fine of up to $250.
