Breaking news out of Waskom this morning:
Harrison County Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer Jay Web confirms Gerald Rushton, who is believed to be in his 60s, died after being attacked by his pet deer.
Deputies say it was his granddaughter that called to alert them of the attack. When they arrived at the scene, Mr. Rushton was unresponsive.
Rushton raised the buck since it was young, and today when he was trying to move the deer from one location to another, it kicked him. Officials say he owned an exotic deer farm, raising and selling deer for numerous years.
Game wardens have since shot the deer. Deputies warn of the dangers of raising a wild animal as a pet.
