LUFKIN - A Lufkin man tries to sneak out of a store with a drink he didn't pay for this weekend. But the crime only escalates when an officer catches him in the act.
It happened Sunday at the Polk Oil Company store on North Raguet Street. A Lufkin Police officer says 22-year-old Edwin Jabroskey Simpson ignored him when he ordered him to put down the drink and put his hands behind his back.
According to the report, Simpson then pushed the officer away and rammed the him into a door, breaking it and causing minor injuries to the officer. That's when Simpson ran away. He was captured by officers in the middle of North Raguet Street.
Simpson has since been booked into the Angelina County Jail on robbery and evading arrest charges.
