AS REPORTED IN THE NACOGDOCHES DAILY SENTINEL:
The Texas Department of Transportation is asking the community for feedback on a plan to fund several improvement projects during the next four years. At a meeting set for 5 p.m. today, anyone living in Angelina, Houston, Nacogdoches, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby and Trinity counties will have the opportunity to discuss the plan, according a press release from TxDOT.
A copy of the proposed Lufkin District's fiscal 2011-14 Rural Transportation Improvement Plan will be available at the Lufkin District Office, at 1805 N. Timberland Drive, anytime before the meeting.
TxDOT and the Federal Highway Administration plan to use the plan to fund construction costs incurred in the next four years, including all federally funded projects, the release stated.
Some of those projects include replacing portions of the Sabine River bridge, replacing a railroad underpass on the north loop in Lufkin, and constructing a grade separation interchange on Business 59 in Lufkin, according to the plan.
