DALLAS — Identities have been released of a Dallas police officer wounded in a shootout at an apartment complex and the homicide suspect later found dead.
A Dallas police spokesman says Officer Richard Whitt is recovering after surgery. Police Lt. C.L. Williams says 31-year-old Kenneth Michael Horton, who allegedly opened fire at an apartment complex where his ex-girlfriend was staying, was later found dead nearby of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A bystander was struck by a bullet believed to have been fired by the suspect. Police said the bystander and the wounded officer are expected to survive, but the bystander's identity still hasn't been released.
