TYLER - Becoming a concealed handgun carrier in the state of Texas allows someone to legally carry a firearm but, there is a process you have to go through to get there.
Brad Brasuell lives in Texas runs a Utah concealed handgun course. He runs business quite a bit different then Texas handgun classes do.
In Texas, the concealed handgun course lasts around 10 hours, in Utah it's only 4. In Texas you also have to take written test, in the Utah certification class your instructor goes over the test verbally. Finally, a Texas license will last you 4 years where a Utah license lasts you 5.
Mack Woods an East Texas concealed handgun instructor tells us when you go with shorter classes there are risks you take when you receive less information.
The Utah licenses can be used and is accepted in Texas just like a state licenses does but there is one place you can't carry a handgun with an out of state license, a school zone.
