Feral hogs cause millions of dollars in damage in our state every year -- they root up fields, can injure pets, and destroy fences and farm equipment.
That's why the Texas Department of Agriculture created a contest called "Get the Hog Outta Texas".
Many counties across the Lone Star state competed this past October to see which county could get rid of the most feral hogs.
One East Texan, A.D. Varner, says that he can catch hundreds of hogs a year in a single field, and can trap several in one day.
Varner says, "You know, we may catch six... we may catch 7... in one trap!"
The winning county of the Hog Outta Texas contest is expected to be announced by the end of next week.
