From the Rusk County Sheriff's Department:
Just after 3 p.m. today, 26-year-old Jermaine Lamonte Farmer of Cleveland and 21-year-old Steve Terrell were charged with possession of marijuana. That's a 3rd-degree felony. Justice of the Peace Bob Richardson set bond for both suspects at $15,000.
Both men are from Cleveland, Mississippi. They are currently being held in the Rusk County Jail.
On Monday at approximately 11:15 p.m., the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit seized approximately 5 lbs. of marijuana during a traffic stop on US Highway 59 North, in the southern portion of Rusk County.
During the traffic stop of an SUV, the deputy indicated criminal activity and asked the suspects for consent to search the vehicle. Both suspects occupying the vehicle agreed to the search of the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle’s back seat area, the deputy discovered five bags which contained marijuana. The marijuana weighed approximately 5 lbs.
The deputy seized the marijuana, then arrested and charged both suspects with possession of marijuana. Both suspects of Cleveland, Mississippi, remain in the Rusk County Jail awaiting arraignment.
