AS REPORTED IN THE HENDERSON DAILY NEWS:
A Henderson man was arrested Christmas Eve on charges of aggravated assault on a public servant.
Around 7:15 a.m. Friday, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper requested assistance from Rusk County Sheriff's Office deputies to County Road 314 South in Henderson.
“The request was due to a suspect believed to be armed who had previously left the scene of an accident,” RCSO public information officer Viki Penney said.
The suspect, a 44-year-old white male, fired shots when law enforcement arrived.
“After discharging the firearm, the suspect then pointed the weapon at the officers,” Penney said. “The suspect did not fire the weapon at the officers; the suspect then turned and ran, throwing his firearm to the ground.”
