The highest recorded average for gas was back in 2008 at more than $4 a gallon. However, some oil experts are predict the numbers to jump far above that in the next year.
Right now, the average price for gas across the state is $2.91 for unleaded. The former president of Shell Oil predicted gas prices to go above $5 a gallon by 2012.
Crude oil hit $90 a barrel this week, but after a drop in inventories, the price went down today. Daryl Gupppy with guppytraders.com says a barrel of oil could go far above $100.
For small businesses, it could mean higher prices for their customers.
