TYLER - Last night, a fire broke out at Tyler's Greenwood Farms Landfill.
Around 10 Friday night, the Jackson Heights Fire Department says a man who was bailing hay nearby saw a fire on top of the landfill and called it in.
Jackson Heights did find a pile of trash and shingles burning on the landfill and quickly put the fire out.
On the scanners last night, there was talk that someone had allegedly started the small fire.
"That was going around that someone might have been out here at the time when the fire started...once again, soon as the fire marshal investigates, we're really uncertain how the fire actually started," said Thomas Graham with Jackson Heights Fire Department.
Graham says the Smith County Fire Marshal came out to investigate. As of last night, he says no one found anything suspicious and they still don't know what started the fire.
