Region classified as "extreme drought"
Jacksonville---The Daily Progress is reporting although Tuesday's moisture was a welcome sight, the area still is under, what The National Drought Mitigation Center calls "extreme drought.”
Extension agent; Rick Hirsch says precipitation levels are about a quarter short of annual levels.
Those numbers, Hirsh says are causing problems for farmers, ranchers and home owners.
Local foresters enforce Hirsch claims, saying lack of moisture has made the area ripe for wild fires.
