TYLER - Authorities identified the driver in the chase as 42-year-old Anthony Boyd Wilson of Athens. Officials say he is charged with a felony evading arrest.
TYLER - A high-speed chase ended Wednesday after a Chapel Hill officer was able to cut off and stop a man fleeing from police.
Tyler Junior College Spokesman Fred Peters says the chase began around 1:15 p.m. when the driver of a car flew past two officers in a campus police car headed east on 5th Street, near Palmer Drive. Police say they were almost sideswiped by the erratic driver. After he refused to pull over, campus police called for assistance.
Tyler police began chasing the vehicle on Loop 323 all the way to Highway 64 in Chapel Hill. A Chapel Hill officer was able to cut the vehicle off and stop him.
The 25-year-old man complained of chest pains during his arrest, and it is unclear at this time if the man was taken to a hospital or is on his way to Smith County Jail.
Police believe the suspect was possibly under the influence of some kind of drug. He will be charged with evading police in a vehicle and possibly under the influence. No other passengers were in the car.
