Trend continues for fourth consecutive month
Jacksonville---The Daily Progress is reporting sales tax revenues for Jacksonville continue a positive trend.
But City Manager Mo Raissi tells The Daily Progress; it's a good news - bad news number.
Raissi says the month’s positive numbers are artificially inflated due to an accounting error made by the state last year.
Figures for January, show Jacksonville will receive $226,562.99 from the Texas Comptroller’s office, compared to the same time last year: the city received $157,760.08.
Still, with the mistake figured-in, the city will see an increase of more then ten percent and city staffers were only expecting an increase of near five percent.
