AS REPORTED IN THE NACOGDOCHES DAILY SENTINEL:
A new cookie, new packaging and a smile is what San Jacinto Council Girl Scouts are offering this year during their annual cookie drive.
The new cookie, called the Shout Outs! are unique and a great addition to the Girl Scout cookie family, said Beth Shea, the council's vice president of communications.
"It's a Belgian-style cookie that's caramelized and has a cinnamony flavor to it," Shea said. "All of our cookies don't have trans fat in them, but this one also does not have hydrogenated oil in it."
Also new this year is the carton-free package, used in efforts to eliminate paperboard waste, for the Thanks-A-Lot cookie.
Other favorites still available include Thin Mints, Caramel Delites, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Peanut Butter Patties, Shortbreads and Lemonades. The cost is still $3.50 per box.
Door-to-door and traditional Girl Scout cookie sales began Jan. 8 and will end Sunday.
